| Manager, Directory Services/Messaging | | Location: | PA-Western Suburbs | | Skills: | | | Compensation: | 90-100K | | Description: | The Manager, Directory Services/Messaging manages a team of individuals who is responsible for day-to-day management and support of the Information Services Enterprise E-mail System and directory services functions. Supports Enterprise Windows and Microsoft Exchange and is responsible for messaging/directory concepts and technologies, such as, SMTP, POP, OWA, SMTP Gateway products, TCP/IP, DNS, and Active Directory. Assists in the design and implementation of next generation systems that will support the e-mail and Directory services infrastructure.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Manages a team of individuals responsible for all aspects of Enterprise Directory Services/ Messaging. Performs supervisory functions of hiring, evaluating, training, career development and mentoring.
Manages, monitors and administers the Microsoft Exchange Messaging environment including Microsoft Exchange, Blackberry, Windows and MS Active Directory in a 24x7x365 environment.
Provides project leadership and system administration support for the migration of the messaging environment from legacy email systems to Messaging environment.
Manages software upgrades, security patches and planned maintenance to minimize disruption of services following established Information Services change control procedures.
Responsible for communicating all messaging performance degradation to the Information Services management and support staff.
Develops and maintains technical documentation and project plans for messaging and directory environments.
Maintains strict change control of messaging and directory services infrastructure.
Maintains all SMTP gateways, faxing gateways, e-mail encryption gateways.
Anticipates and provides solutions for complex problems and issues, recommends upgrades and enhancements. Able to present understandable alternatives to both technical and non-technical individuals at all levels of the organization.
Monitors industry trends, maintains knowledge of developments in directory services/messaging. Identifies leading edge technologies for potential early adoption that will result in service differentiation and create competitive advantage. Leads the evaluation and validation of emerging technologies by working with other members of the management team and business leaders. Identifies strategies to mitigate risk associated with leading edge technologies.
Demonstrates the commitment to customer service by providing responsive and effective support, developing solid working relationships with customers and Information Services colleagues, and delivering high quality, value-added services that exceed customer expectations.
Measures capacity and performance trends to determine long-term needs.
Provides systems metrics, root cause analysis and proactive monitoring.
Identifies areas of improvement in server and client application and implements improvements when approved.
Assists with establishment of departmental and colleague goals and objectives that support the overall goals of Information Services and promotes staff development. Evaluates colleague and department performance against these established goals and objectives.
Recruits and develops staff to create a high-performing Technology Services organization capable of supporting current systems while migrating to and leveraging next generation technologies.
Works with the Disaster Recovery Team on creating, testing and updating disaster recovery plans.
Education, Certifications or Licenses:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or 5 years experience with Microsoft Exchange.
Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE).
Experience
Five years experience in designing, maintaining, and administering MS Exchange messaging systems in a medium to large environment.
Senior-level knowledge and proficiency with Exchange 200X, MS Outlook, OWA, Exchange connector, SMTP, MIME, POP, MAPI and other similar technologies.
Senior-level knowledge of Windows 200X/XP domain structure, Windows Active Directory, Windows 2000/2003 Server and Microsoft cluster administration.
Experience with Instant Messaging and wireless messaging technologies such as Blackberry Enterprise Server, Active-sync, Goodlink, etc.
Must be experienced with virus, content and scanning including Spam filtering technology.
Experience in project management including defining requirements, tasks management, resource allocations, and time management.
